In the first episode of Bill Nye’s new show on Netflix, “Bill Nye Saves the World”, Brooklyn rapper Desiigner and supermodel Karlie Kloss make an appearance to promote climate change awareness in honor of Earth Day. Sounds conveniently simple, and it is, but this doesn’t mean that it’s any less good either. Because it is.
In a few words, Desiigner finds himself walking throughout New York City, trying to do simple things like buy chocolate, order sushi, drink coffee and of course, find solace in talking to a panda. Kloss, who plays the show’s correspondent, intervenes during his tasks, bringing to light issues around regions where cacao plants are grown, fish stock depletion and China’s diminishing bamboo supply. The supermodel offers the rapper jellybeans as an alternative, to which he begrudgingly accepts.
