After weeks of showing off Chanel on the red carpet, it was only a matter of time before Chanel made an official announcement that Lily-Rose Depp was to become its beautiful face.

The French fashion house revealed that 16-year-old Depp would become the face of Chanel No 5 L’Eau, the latest incarnation of the world’s best-selling scent by in-house perfumer Olivier Polge.  Following in the footsteps of Gisele, Marilyn and Nicole Kidman, Depp is certainly in beautiful company – her gene pool probably wouldn’t have it any other way.

A young, up-and-coming actress, Lily-Rose Depp is already the face for the Chanel Pearl eyewear collection launched in September 2015. She embodies her generation and its values of freedom and boldness to perfection, bringing to the iconic fragrance of the House her youthful freshness and beauty,” Chanel said in a statement.

Already the star of three films this summer – Yoga Hosers directed by Kevin Smith, Planetarium directed by Rebecca Zlotowski, and La danseuse (The Dancer) directed by Stéphanie Di Giusto – Depp is set to be busy. The No 5 campaign traditionally comes with a mini movie of it’s own – remember Nicole Kidman’s directed by Baz Luhrmann in 2005 – and Depp’s is set to be directed by Swede Johan Renck and released in this autumn.
