It all started when Liv Tyler decided to show off her musical heritage by reinterpreting INXS’ “Need You Tonight”, as part of the new “Very Irrésistible Givenchy Electric Rose” campaign.
But then again, the 34-year-old goddess teamed up with Sony Music Entertainment. And what started as fashion pop corn, aka as a gift give-away (a card to download Tyler’s version of “Need You Tonight” is included with every purchase of the fragrance), is now seriously a social media kick arse.
The music video/commercial (strictly black and white footage) was shot by Swedish director Johan Renck. And according to Givenchy, “The Need You Tonight video captures Liv’s resolutely rock ‘n’ roll spirit and shows her more magnetic and irresistible than ever. Featuring a choreography by famous dancer Bianca Li, its unique style and energetic vibe resonate perfectly with the Givenchy world”.
And yes, this isn’t the first time that Liv is holding a mic. She already featured (back in a 2009) a duet with the Lemonheads for a cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Hey, That’s No Way to Say Goodbye”. But does really anyone remember that?
Could this mean a career swith? We doubt it. But still, even Michael Hutchence, wherever he may now be (in Hawaii with Elvis?), wouln’t be pissed off. Because she is really good. Do we need her tonight, though? Why not, there’s something about this girl, that makes us sweat.
