Designed by Andrea Deppieri, Venetian architect and creative director of Newton & Son, a multidisciplinary design office, TÊTE DE BOIS is the first and unique design wooden headwear, resulting from the combination of industrial design, architecture and fashion design. The concept spurs from the will to mold such a noble material as wood, to become a comfortable every-day accessory. Drawing influence from the architectural element of the “brise soleil” sun shading structures and working with wooden slats and washers, Tête de bois seeks to create shapes that curve along a string, giving birth to a unique piece of headwear.

Lightweight and incredibly comfortable, the accessory allows airflow and protects from sunlight by means of its wooden slats which block the sun’s rays. unisex adjustable size, Tête de bois is being launched with five styles in two wood finishes: the Tanganika wood is light coloured while the mahogany wood is dark. the slats are made from stratified pure virgin wood veneers, they are then calendared and layered to give strength and durability to the wood. the project is characterized by a subtle sense of humor, starting from the brand name (which means “head of  wood” in french), and going on with the 5 styles names. Everyone suggests a well defined reference environment.

Note that Tete de bois already made its debut at Spazio Rossana Orlandi, during the 2013 Milan Design Week. All in all, an absolutely original headwear, a really comfortable, adjustable and wearable piece of art that is being launched with 5 styles in 2 wood finishes: the Tanganika wood is light coloured, while the Mahogany wood is dark.

Remember:  Andrea Deppieri, creator of TÊTE DE BOIS, was born in Venice in 1981. Keen on design and fashion for education and background, he graduated in architecture at IUAV of Venice in 2006. After gaining experience in different architecture studios, he focused on design applied to fashion, working as retail designer for Diesel. Then, as freelancer, he collaborated with Ralph Lauren and Benetton, among others. From 2009 he is creative consultant for 55DSL, the street style and young brand of Diesel, for which he has the opportunity to work in a range of different activities, from interior and furniture design to display and packaging design, installations and windows creativity. In early 2012, he founded NEWTON & SON, an evolution of the design and graphic studio established by his father in 1986. The studio works in a range of different fields and disciplines, including architecture and interior design, graphic and industrial design, creative direction and brand identity. Curious about everything, his mantra is observe, absorb, exchange. Andrea is convinced that creativity and rationality are two sides of the same coin. Andrea is obsessed with detail.
